A humorous science fiction story, LIZARD MUSIC was first published in 1976 and features a quirky main charter who idolizes newscaster Walter Cronkite. When his parents go away for a two-week vacation, 11-year-old Victor is left in the care of his flaky older sister, Leslie. Almost as soon as their parents depart, Leslie announces that she's also taking a vacation, and leaves Victor on his own. Late that night, as Victor half-dozes in front of the television, he sees a most unusual program, a musical performance by a group of lizards--not people in lizard costumes, but actual lizards. The next day, Victor meets the Chicken Man, a mysterious stranger who keeps a pet chicken on his head--and who seems to know all about Victor and the lizards. Confused, intrigued, and perhaps even a little bit frightened, Victor begins an amazing adventure--one that will eventually bring him into the mysterious world of the lizards.
